Prelvm Winery. The passion of a non-conformist winegrower.

Under the name Prelvm (central beam of the Roman presses), hides Juan Leandro, an honest wine enthusiast and third generation of winemakers from Extremadura. In 2017 he decides to reinvent himself and sets out to bet on new wines, intervening as little as possible and letting the local varieties express themselves. Thus was born this innovative project in a land where conventional agriculture and industrialized wines take over the wine market.

The winery is located in El Raposo, province of Badajoz. The vineyards, more than 30 years old, have been certified organic since 2002 and among the varieties it vinifies are: Eva-Beba (native variety of the region), Alarije (native variety from Extremadura), Gewürztraminer, Macabeo, red Garnacha, Tempranillo. The altitude at which they are located is about 565 meters above sea level. The soils are clayey soils capable of retaining a large amount of water during the winter, which the plant needs during the summer months to continue its vegetative development.

The winery decided to use mainly Extremadura earthenware jars as containers for fermenting and maturing its wines, in addition to damajuanas, oak barrels and stainless steel to a lesser extent. In the elaboration of the wines, the fermentation is spontaneous with indigenous yeasts from each grape and the terroir. In some of its wines the addition of sulphur is nil and in others a small dose is added.

It has a wide range of wines suitable for all types of restless palates. You can find: a white (natural), an orange, several reds (each with its own personality) and a Pet-nat.
